A society’s first line of defense is not the law or the criminal justice system but customs, traditions, and moral values. These behavioral norms, mostly imparted by example, word-of-mouth and religious teachings, represent a body of wisdom distilled over the ages through experience and trial and error. Police and laws can never replace these restraints on personal conduct. At best, the police and criminal justice system are the last desperate line of defense for a civilized society. Today’s true tragedy is that most people think what we see today has always been so. As such, today’s Americans accept behavior our parents and grandparents never would have accepted.
You came here because you didn’t like it there, but now you want to change here to be like there. Those of us who created here like it the way it is, and most of us prefer it because it’s not like there. Please stop trying to make here like there. If you really like there that much, you should not have left there to come here, and you are invited to leave here and go back there as soon as humanly possible.
We’ve got to teach history based not on what’s in fashion but what’s important. If we forget what we did, we won’t know who we are. I’m warning of an eradication of the American memory that could result, ultimately, in an erosion of the American spirit.
We seem to be getting closer and closer to a situation where nobody is responsible for what they did but we are all responsible for what somebody else did.
A society that cannot protect its children has no tomorrow.
America is not the natural state of the world. The natural state of the world is Darfur. The British Empire spread Anglo-Saxon culture around the globe — Protestant morals, individualism, and the rule of law. Most British colonies rejected those values. Only the ones populated by actual British people — America, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand — managed to hold on to them and, as a result, prospered. The empire’s most successful experiment was the United States. Anyone who hesitates for a moment to recognize that some groups have it over other groups in producing free and prosperous nations has been brainwashed beyond reclamation.
Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people — a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs.
We’ve raised a generation of immoral puritans, living their lives in constant fear that somewhere, somehow, someone is having a normal sex life.
Much like how Washington, D.C., is Hollywood for ugly people, with notable exceptions, Hollywood is Washington, D.C., for stupid people.
