The rights of the people

I want liberty

Too much liberty vs. too little
I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than those attending too small a degree of it.
Freedom
Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.
Extremism and moderation
I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.
Trading liberty for safety
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
The power of the free man
Let us therefore animate and encourage each other, and show the whole world, that a Freeman contending for Liberty on his own ground is superior to any slavish mercenary on earth.
Government gaining ground
The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground.
