Why has liberalism provided useful camouflage for Communism? To put it another way, why didn’t Communists bother passing themselves off as conservatives too? Was the border between liberalism and Communism especially porous? If so, and if many liberals accepted Communists as worthy allies, why should we be severe with anti-Communists who didn’t or couldn’t make fine distinctions between them?
